Brand Strategist

About the role
As a Brand Strategist at Brandora you will not just work on campaigns -- you will shape what the brand is for. Your job is to understand a market well enough to find the opening in it, then write the positioning clearly enough that a designer, a media buyer and a founder all build the same thing from it. This is a role for someone who is comfortable with data and with a blank page, and who can tell the difference between an insight and an observation.
What you'll do every day
You will run the research -- interviews, category audits, competitor teardowns -- and turn it into a proposition somebody can act on. You will write the positioning, the messaging hierarchy and the tone rules, brief the creative team, and stay close enough to the work to catch it when it drifts. You will present to clients, defend the reasoning, and revisit it when the numbers say you should.
Responsibilities
- Run qualitative and quantitative research and synthesise it into a point of view.
- Write positioning, messaging hierarchies and tone-of-voice rules.
- Brief creative teams and stay involved through execution.
- Audit categories and competitors for real openings, not gaps on a chart.
- Present strategy to clients and hold it under questioning.
- Define what success looks like before the work starts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a brand strategist, planner or equivalent.
- A strong grasp of branding, marketing and digital behaviour.
- Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills.
- The ability to think creatively and structurally at the same time.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and with clients.
Who we're looking for
Someone who is suspicious of their own first answer. You read widely, you interview well, and you can hold a category in your head long enough to notice what everyone in it is saying the same way. You write plainly, you can be argued out of a position by evidence, and you enjoy the part where the strategy has to survive a designer asking what it actually means.
Skills and expertise
Category and competitor analysis, qualitative research, positioning, messaging architecture, tone of voice, creative briefing and measurement design. You are comfortable with analytics tools and more comfortable with a transcript.
Why join us
Brandora is small enough that your work is visible and structured enough that it ships. You will see projects from the first conversation to the launch rather than inheriting a brief and handing off a file. We work across industries on purpose, we protect focus time, and we would rather you left at six having done something good than stayed until nine doing something adequate. Reviews are quarterly, salary bands are written down, and there is a real budget for the conference or the course you keep meaning to go to.
